What is the difference between the boutique and the Lab?
The boutique is the firm's operating model. The Lab is one practice within the firm.
Cross Suite Advisory — N M E D is itself a practitioner-led agentic boutique: one senior Principal working with a governed system of agentic AI to deliver what a large consulting firm delivers, by using agents to do the structured analytical work that scale firms historically needed armies of associates for. The Agentic Boutique page is both the thesis ("agentic AI dissolves the historical scale advantage of large advisory firms") and the proof of that thesis — twelve specialist suites, more than a hundred specialist agents built and operating under senior judgment.
The Lab is one of those twelve suites — the firm's brand, communications, and intelligence discipline. Eight specialist agents that handle positioning, strategic communications, executive thought leadership, stakeholder mapping, digital reputation, AI-era brand audit, crisis simulation, and quarterly brand-intelligence reporting.
Think of it the way a luxury hotel operates. The hotel itself is the boutique — the operating model, the standard, the brand. The kitchen is one discipline inside the hotel, with its own specialist team. The Lab is our kitchen. The Talent practice is our front desk. The ADA Accessibility practice is our concierge. All of them operate under the same boutique standard, but each is a specialty.
When a client engages "the boutique," they're engaging the whole firm. When they engage "the Lab," they're engaging the brand-and-communications agents specifically. The Lab is a boutique-within-the-firm.
